✅ Keep yards clean and free of debris, junk, and clutter
✅ Maintain grass and weeds below 6 inches
Overgrown lawns and unkempt yards don’t just hurt curb appeal — they can attract pests, pose fire hazards, and impact neighborhood property values.
⚠️ Failure to comply may result in warnings, citations, or fines starting at $100. Repeat violations can lead to more serious consequences, including city clean-up at the property owner’s expense.

The Boil Water Order for Cedar Lane subdivision has been LIFTED.

*UPDATE* -Leak was repaired and all water restored.
There is currently a Boil Water Order for City of Metropolis customers around Cedar Lane subdivision. Crews are working on the leak and hope to have it resolved soon. The Boil Water Order will be lifted after bacteriological testing is complete.
The City of Metropolis will be performing necessary repairs to the water main in the Cedar Lane subdivision on Thursday, May 29th, 2025.
Please be advised: Temporary service interruptions may occur during the work. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to maintain and improve our water infrastructure.
